We will explore how to work effectively with clients experiencing complex trauma, chronic dissociation, entrenched avoidance, and moral injury—contexts in which psychological inflexibility is often maintained within the relational space itself.

The heart of acceptance and commitment therapy

October 21 - October 22, 2026

Many ACT practitioners reach a point where they know the model well but sense something is missing. Sessions can feel technique-driven. The therapy is present, but the therapist isn’t quite. This intermediate-level workshop is designed to address exactly that gap: moving beyond foundational techniques to work at the level of process, function, and genuine therapeutic presence.

About Robyn D. Walser

I’m a clinical psychologist with expertise in acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), having started to work in this treatment approach in 1991. I currently provide training, supervision, consultation and psychotherapy in the model.

I delivered my first ACT workshop in 1997 in Ireland and have been training around the world since, including online. My workshops feature a combination of lecture and experiential exercises designed to provide a unique learning opportunity in this state-of- the-art intervention. I am often referred to as a “clinician’s clinician.”

I provide supervision and consultation in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) tailored to your needs and level of training.

What is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)?

ACT is a behavioral treatment that emphasizes acceptance of emotion and thought while maintaining a focus on positive behavior change that is meaningful and consistent with personal values. Since ACT uses a variety of verbal, experiential, and homework techniques plus mindfulness and other awareness practices to help clients make experiential contact with internal events (thoughts, feelings, sensations), workshops are designed accordingly and involve understanding the model from the inside out. The ultimate goal is connecting the clinician with the principles and processes in ACT to assist clients in making powerful life enhancing choices.

Who are my ACT workshops for and what format are they in?

My workshops are for individuals and groups who want to learn ACT processes and implement these in their clinical practice or other settings such as hospitals, clinics, coaching, etc.

I conduct workshops in the following formats either in-person or online:

  • A few hours to introduce ACT, including topic-focused issues (e.g. ACT process, trauma, substance use, burnout).

  • Full-day introductory or topic focused.

  • Multiple days on full ACT intervention and clinical skill building.

  • Advanced workshops ranging up to five days.

ACT workshops can be tailored to meet beginner, intermediate or advanced training needs as well as the needs of institutions wishing to train their providers in ACT. Reach out to me to discuss, and design the workshop that fits your needs.
