After decades of working with trauma survivors, my colleague Darrah Westrup and I wrote this book with one core belief: You are not your trauma. We've seen time and again how people can move beyond their pain and reclaim their lives, and we wanted to share the tools that have made such a difference in our work together.
In this book, we offer a compassionate, step-by-step approach using acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) that you can work through on your own. We'll guide you in building safety and resilience, learning new ways to face difficult feelings and sensations, stepping back from thoughts that keep you stuck, and reconnecting with what truly matters to you.
This work comes from our hearts and from witnessing the incredible strength and healing capacity that lives within every person we've been privileged to serve.
Events and Resources
To celebrate the launch, I'm excited to share some gifts with you.
First, I've uploaded free mindful meditations and reflective practices directly from the book—click here to access these complimentary resources.
And because I believe this work should reach as many people as possible, I'm also giving away copies of the book. Click here to be in the running!
Robyn's Recommendation
I’m often moved by the wisdom and creativity people bring into the world, through books, podcasts, films, and conversations that spark reflection. To share some of these treasures with you, I’m beginning a new section of this newsletter: Robyn’s Recommendations. Each month, I’ll highlight something that has caught my attention and may enrich your own journey.
This month, in keeping with our theme of treating trauma, I’d like to recommend a podcast that feels close to home:
Mind Dive: A Podcast for Mental Health Professionals
Hosted by Robert Boland, MD, and Kerry Horrell, PhD, from Menninger, Mind Dive explores the fascinating dilemmas and latest research that captivate mental health professionals.
In Episode 69, "Beyond Trauma: Reclaiming Your Life with ACT," I joined Dr. Darrah Westrup to discuss our new book and how Acceptance and Commitment Therapy offer a revolutionary approach to trauma recovery through psychological flexibility and values-based living.
